With the help of Skånes Auktionsverk, we are invited to discover a vibrant artistic career through 33 lots under the heading Magnus Wijkström – The Shy Artist.
In 1983, Magnus Wijkström was accepted to the Valand Academy of Fine Arts in Gothenburg. By then, he had already completed, among other things, a two-year program at Pernby’s School of Painting in Stockholm. He remained in Sweden’s second largest city for half a decade before settling in Malmö.
In Skåne, he produced a large number of works brimming with color, life, and at times symbolic elements—though often fully abstracted. After his passing, Gallery M in Eslöv held a memorial exhibition of his works.
We are now presented with a well-curated selection. As if peering through a keyhole, we are granted a glimpse into the studio of Magnus Wijkström – The Shy Artist.
