It’s that time of year again. If all goes well, the snow will fall on time, and all the relatives will arrive as planned. But before that, there’s decorating, cleaning, putting up the tree, and baking: gingerbread cookies, saffron buns, Christmas sweets — and someone will undoubtedly take care of the mulled wine (often the same person who insists on having a newspaper to read on Christmas Eve). Then there’s shoveling, lighting torches, and getting the fire going. A lot to do. And of course, we mustn’t forget the presents. By Christmas Day, they should be under the tree or tucked in the sack — almost the most important part of all.
