Crafoord Auktioner Malmö illuminates the history of Swedish lighting with a theme brimming with items from one of the most influential Swedish lamp manufacturers of the latter half of the 20th century – Luxus. The brand is a natural part of the Swedish design heritage, and few have not heard of the brothers Uno and Östen Kristiansson. To trace the origins, it all began when their father, Evert Kristiansson, along with three other carpenters from Bjärnum, founded a small company in 1929. Three years later, he became the sole owner, and for many years, they supplied furniture to firms like Franklin & Co and Robert Ditzinger. The sons, who spent hours in the workshop from a young age, followed in their father’s footsteps but shifted the focus from furniture to lighting. From the 1950s’ sleek opal glass lamps with teak and oak arms to the 1960s’ striking models in acrylic or glass, the business quickly expanded, resulting in an incredible range of products. At Crafoord Auctions Malmö, we are presented with a broad and representative selection of models in various sizes and from multiple decades.
A warm welcome!
