With many years of experience, meticulous methodology, one or two scoops of patience, and perhaps the help of a magnifying glass, Stockholm's Auction House chief superintendent for Books, Maps & Manuscripts, Katharina Fahlstedt, has carefully examined and selected the contents of the auction now presented under the title "Maps & Views!"
In a selection spanning over 130 lots, diverse aspects of cartography's long history are explored. It's worth noting some of the auction's highlights. One of the main attractions is a hand-colored map of Japan from the mid-19th century. An engraved and border-colored map of "Rvssiae Mosco" from 1562 is also expected to attract interest. The same goes for the collection of 18 relief maps from the 1940s. In addition to the above, there are a number of colored maps from the 16th century, some items related to Stockholm, 46 photographs of King Oscar II during his travels, and much, much more.
