Militaria, Coins & Medals

Welcome to our Spring Auction of Militaria, Medals and Coins. With over 1,200 lots over two days there should be something for everyone.

The first day includes some fascinating guns and swords: the enormous flintlock
customs musketoon is one of the largest flintlock guns you are ever likely to encounter.

The medals always provide some wonderful stories: the Military Cross to a young officer shot by a sniper presents a wonderfully lucid story of the Great War and the successful use of a silver elbow joint which saw him survive and return to action. From the Second World War, the Distinguished Service Cross from Dunkirk is an excellent reminder of the part played by the Royal Navy over those few heroic days in 1940. A further ‘treasure’ amongst the First World War medals is the group awarded to a young officer with the rank of ‘Owner Driver’, possibly the rarest of all ranks recorded on any Medal Index Card.

On the second day, there is a good selection of Ancient Coins to include a collection of 'Celtic' coins. Disjoined horses, Starfish, Hengistbury Smilers: these really are the very best insight that we have into the lives of our ancient ancestors who lived amongst the hills in these parts so many years ago. To hold one of these coins is always a joy.

IMPORTANT
In keeping with other Auction Houses, Lawrences do not in any way guarantee Third Reich period items. These are sold on a subject to no return basis. Viewing is strongly advised.
