Polished and partly matte burnished gilt and dark patinated bronze, crowned by bust depicting the Roman general Sulla, dial with crossed Roman field signs, half-stroke, pull key and pendulum included, height 40 cm PROVENANCE: Stopalo The Roman general and statesman Lucius Cornelius Sulla (138 BC .-78 BC) came from one of Rome's most close-knit families, the Cornelli. He advanced rapidly within the Roman army and for a short period managed to be very successful militarily and politically. During the empire, the Greek and Roman figures from history were again highlighted in art and in decorations on furniture and handicrafts.
