Description

A Great War pair comprising War Medal and Victory Medal named to 270036 Pte F. Turner W. York R. Plaque to Fred Turner. Private Turner served with the 2nd Battalion of the West Yorkshire Regiment (Prince of Wales's Own), he was wounded on the 29th May 1917 and entitled to a wound stripe, he died on the 29th May 1918 and is commemorated on the Soissons Memorial in France. Plaque with inner and outer cover.

Condition

Inner cover distressed, normal light surface marks.

An Extensive Private Collection of First World War Medals

This sale will comprise an extensive and far-ranging private single owner collection of First World War Medals comprising over 500 lots of Great War medals, the vast majority to men who served on the Western Front, many of them casualties buried in an array of different cemeteries in France and Belgium, to include gallantry groups, numerous 1st Day of the Somme groups, a casualty group to a boy soldier who signed up at the age of 15, examples from the famous ‘Pals Battalions’ and pairs and trios to almost every Regiment and Corps who took part between 1914 and 1918.
