Description

A pair of binoculars belonging to Major Bromilow, finely engraved 'Major H.A. Bromilow Lancs Hussars. It seems likely that this relates to Major Bromilow who served with the 1st Battalion of the Lancashire Hussars Yeomanry with a seniority date of 22/8/1914. After the war he was acting Lt-Colonel and awarded a Mention in Despatches in July 1919, and possibly rising to Brevet Colonel in 1928 with the Territorial Reserve of Officers. A further pair of binoculars by Carl Zeiss named for H.S. Chittick 5th June 1885/1906, probably for Hubert Stanley Chittick of the Royal Engineers who was a 2nd Lieutenant with the Wireless Signal Company, Territorial Force from 5th January 1912, rising to Acting Captain with a Mention in Despatches in October 1918. And a further pair, all in leather cases.

Condition

Cases distressed, binoculars all showing signs of age and use.
