Artist book. Fontana, Lucio, Italian artist of Argentinian birth, (1899-1968). Two objects. 1. Fountain. Edizioni del Cavallino, Venice, 1958. 8vo in a green cloth binding with red text and punched holes of various sizes on the front cover. Issued in 600 copies, 200 green, 200 orange and 200 yellow, of which this is no. 539. Designed as a folding leporello book with colophon and 2 p. text Giampiero Giano in Italian initially and then 13 mounted art plates.
Rare catalog from an exhibition at the Cavallino in Venice in 1958.
2. Together with a catalog from Stockholm: Fontana. Galerie Bleue, Sturegatan 28, Stockholm. Catalog no. 21 April 1967 and Galerie Pierre, Nybrogatan 1, Stockholm Ö. Catalog no. 54, April 1967. Large stapled 4th with black and white photographic cover. 8 pages with covers. Black and white illustrations. Signed "Lucio Fontana" on the title page in blue ballpoint pen.
Condition
The green book with slight traces of use and an ink note on the colophon page at the front: "A amore mia di 30 augusto 1967" where the ink has clumped a little. Good condition!
