PORTRAIT PLANS FROM THE LAST STANDARD DAY. STIERNSVÄRD, GUSTAF MAURITZ (ed.). Photographic portraits of members at the last state parliament. Collected, arranged and published by G. M. Stiernsvärd [=folder title]. (Stockholm, 1867?).
Folio. 478 x 322 mm. (9) lithographed cardboard sheets with a total of 553 pasted photographs. In worn and stained original lithographed folder with the publisher's portrait affixed.
Ågren, Swedish biographical reference literature 1450, gives the publication year as 1867 and mentions 13 plates. In some copies, a professional sheet is said to have appeared. The plates here numbered Ia., I aa, Ib, Ic, (the knighthood and nobility) - II (the clergy) - III (the burghers) - IVa, (the peasantry) - IVb and supplements-planch. On 4 of the plates Fr. Westerström as photographer. Cover composed and lithographed by PG Nordmann. By the name under each portrait a numerical code 1-9, indicating how the member voted in 1865 when considering the new Riksdag order (bicameral Riksdag).
Not complete, missing 4 plates. Completely complete specimens rare. Given the work that must have gone into just mounting all the portraits, it seems likely that the sheets were sold loose, perhaps in stalls, and to order.
Sold to benefit the Red Cross.
