Linné, Carl von, Swedish naturalist, (1707-1778). Systema Naturae per regna tria naturae secundum classes ordines, genera species..Redacta Tabulisque Aeneis Illustrata. Impensis Godofr. Kiesewetteri, Stockholmiae, 1748. Sixth edition, but in practice third original edition. 8vo in a contemporary leather binding with red spine label with gilt text and rich spine gilt. Illustrated with an engraved portrait of Linnaeus and 8 copper engravings. With Eric G. Lidbeck's crossed-out signature on the title page. Lidbeck, (1724-1803) was a professor of natural history in Lund, was secretary to Linné during the journey in Västergötland. Frontespis, (IV), 224 p. , (XXVIII), last blank + 8 copper stitches. This edition is dedicated to Count Carl G. Tessin.

Condition
The band slightly rubbed and with some spots, but well held together. Bibliographic notes about the book in pencil on the front cover. Stains recto portrait. Stain and mending above the signature on the title page. Contemporary ink notes in the text, probably by Lidbeck. The inlay with some stains, not hard. The frontispiece, which is a portrait of Linné, is added from another edition.
