First edition. Bound together with The History of Serpents or The Secons Book of liuing Creatures,. Whereiis contained Divine, Naturall and Morasll descriptions... Printed by William Jaggard, London, 1608. First edition. 2 works in 1 vol. Folio in a later (18th century) half-French binding with red title label with gilt text and marbled covers. Profusely illustrated with woodcuts in the text, many of which are full-page and many are hand-colored. (XLII), 758 p. , (XII) + (X), 315 p. , (VII).

Condition
The band with some minor stains. Good condition. Later cover page. Title page of the first part urged with paper losses in the margins without loss of text. Around p. 100 missing a couple of pages. Page. 99 mended in the outer margin vertically. Another 20 leaves with losses in and substantial repairs which sometimes meant text losses.. One of the two camels on p. 101 is cut in the outer margin with loss of part of the head. Here and there older underlines and small notes in the margins. In the snake book part, the title page has been supplemented at the bottom due to paper loss and otherwise some pages with repaired tears and reinforced margins. As for the hand colouring, it is difficult to say whether it is contemporary. Occasional bearing stains, although not severe.
