Kankel print as a gift by Per Brahe. Matthiae, Christian, (1584-1655), author & publisher. Vthtåg aff the mirakel, wnderwärck, and some other remarkable things, which from Keyser Antonini Pii, to Rvdolphi tijd, inclusive, have attracted themselves. Allom Menniskiom [!] to Waruing, correction and improvement, aff Christiani Matthiæ, ... summarized, and in the Swedish language affsatt uthaff Æschillo S. Fabricio..Printed at Wijsingsborg, aff Johan Kankel, Anno 1671. Small 8vo in an older, possibly contemporary, leather binding with mute spine. (VIII), 175 p.
A gift from the Reichsdrotzen Count Per Brahe. With a handwritten note from the time on the inside of the front cover: "This book, together with Norrlandz Chrönika, was presented to me by the Highborn Count and Herr Pehr Brahe, Rijkz.Drfotzt, when Iagh was at Wsingsborgh Ao 1672 on 4 fwbr. Brynolphus Lundelkius." The book printer Johann Kankel, (1614-1687), traveled in November 1664 from Germany to Stockholm with the hope of being able to open a printing house, which, however, did not materialize. However, after contact with the count and royal prince Per Brahe the Younger, he came in September 1666 to Visingsö, where he set up a printing house, which he ran until 1685.

Condition

Band rubbed and stained. The insert layer and water stained with a lot of so-called offsetting. Older smudge on the front cover at the back and the inside of the back cover.
