Henrik Åberg was born in Linköping. After studying at the Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm, Åberg emigrated to Buenos Aires, where he took the name Enrique Aberg and became the country's first and only national architect. He returned to Europe in 1887 and settled first in Paris where he studied watercolor painting, then in San Remo and Rome and devoted himself mainly to painting. Åberg is represented at Östergötland Museum and Linköping City Museum.
On May 30, 2025, Johan Siever's book “For me there are three cities in the world: Rome, Buenos Aires & Linköping” about Henrik Åberg was published.
