
Holger Philipsen was a dazzling cartoonist, a great humorist and one of the most important names during the golden age of Danish cartoons... he was educated at the Academy of Arts and Sciences in the 1940s and created the humor magazine “Carlt-Nemli”, where Carlt and his boss quickly became an institution of the newspaper and the popularity rose to heights, for example, when during the occupation (World War II) Philips let his main characters express themselves unequivocally about the Germans. (..) Eventually the series ceased and Philipsen went underground - where he continued to create artwork for illegal resistance magazines... he has also designed several stamps from 1964 to 1984.
