Note - Dogon ladders (ladeli) are utilitarian objects imbued with profound spiritual significance. Traditionally used to access granaries or rooftops, ladders like this were also emblems of ancestral connection, literally and symbolically bridging the human and divine realms. The presence of a carved figure suggests this example may have belonged to a ritual house or shrine, elevating it from daily tool to sacred object.
