19th/20th century, Oil on canvas, unsigned, depicts a classical Biblical subject, showing a youthful Christ and Saint John the Baptist in a verdant landscape. Christ, draped in a white garment, gestures toward John, who clasps a reed cross and wears a rustic cloak consistent with iconography associated with the Baptist. A lamb, often symbolic of Christ, appears between them. housed within a gilt frame 49cm by 40cm including the frame 44.5cm by 35cm image size.
