Description

salt-glazed stoneware teapot of bulbous baluster form with moulded floral scroll frieze to the shoulder and a fruiting vine band to the midsection. Fitted with a domed lid with flowerhead knop and applied decoration. The spout and handle are integrated and of looped, foliate-moulded design. The glaze is a warm treacle-brown, typical of utilitarian domestic wares of the period, 22cm high.

Condition

some chips and losses to glaze to the footrim, unusual to be a teapot.
