A sectional sofa, “Mella”, IKEA, first part of the 1990s.

Five modules. Frame in black lacquered metal, bottom of wire mesh, loose polyester and white wadding cushions covered in removable cotton fabric. One with round pad, four with recesses to fit with the next module. Round module diam 90 cm. Height c. 90 cm.

The model introduced as a novelty in the 1991 IKEA catalog on pages 64, 65 with the text:

“MELLA sectional furniture. An exciting new idea in color, shape and possibilities to combine. You start with a two-seater sofa in black. The back covers in optional colours can be purchased separately.“.
