ANDERS UDD
Crafoord Auktioner in Stockholm presents 31 realistic acrylic paintings by visual artist Anders Udd. Over the past 10 years, Udd has been thrifty in displaying his works, which is why this auction and exhibition is a unique opportunity to follow his artistry. Anders Udd (1958) grew up and works in Stockholm. In the 80s he studied at the Nyckelvik School, the Idun Lovén Art School and the Nordic School of Art in Finland.
In his work, Udd draws on his own photographs of urban landscapes, nature and interiors. The motifs are chosen based on a specific light or mood. In the process of painting, everything superfluous is then peeled away, leaving behind frozen moments of presence, where the light falling on things has both a mundane and deeply mysterious dimension. Often a feeling of silence and stillness arises. Like a wait for something to happen, or the moment after something has happened.
Udd has received several grants from the Danish Arts Council, the Längmanska Kulturfonden Stiftelsen and the Academy of Fine Arts. Selected solo exhibitions: Galleri Bergman, Stockholm 1998, 2001 and 2003. Lidingö Konsthall 2005. Gallery Final, Malmö 2007 and 2014. Norrtälje Konsthall 2008. Pulchri Studio, The Hague 2009. Artists' House, Stockholm 2011. Marks Konsthall, Kinna 2013. Selected collection exhibitions: “Nutida realistisk måleri” Hässelby castle 2002, Norrtälje Konsthall 2004, Vaasa Konsthall, Vaasa 2010, Kunstzaal van Heijningen, The Hague 2010. Nordic Salon, Helsingborg 2014.
