Laurent Fries published a reduced version of Waldseemuller's monumental Marina Charter of 1516. It was only as big as the Waldseemuller, but was still a very large map in twelve woodblock sheets. It is decorated with a host of interesting illustrations including exotic animals, cannibal scenes, enthroned rulers, fanciful sea monsters and is surrounded in an elaborate border of windheads and clouds.
