Historian
The car was purchased by the current owner in 2022. The car has a very interesting history before that. The car was produced as one of the last as PV production ended in October 1965.
It was then bought new by a man who immediately rebuilt it to the competition version of that time. It was equipped, for example, with so-called Safari front carriage (double shock absorbers in front) searchlight, flash plate, Smith's tachometer. The car also has a Halda Speedpilot.
The car was painted in the classic Volvo Rally colours White and Black.
Similar type of car drove for that time very famous and successful Tom Trana who won blah won the RAC rally twice but its PV.
Trana also drove one of Volvo's PVs in the Safari Rally in 1964. The safari rally was rated as the fiercest rally of that time. Unfortunately, the car driven by Trana did not finish.
The car was left behind in Kenya whereupon a whitefish resident in Kenya named Joginder Singh came across the PVN.
Joginder got the car in order and in 1965 he participated in the Safari Rally with his brother as a map reader. The car had gone almost 7,000 miles and was not in new condition but Joginder Singh, together with his brother, managed to take the car to the finish line and win big.
Singh, nicknamed “The Flying Sikh”, won the first non European Safari Rally sensationally in a Volvo PV.
This was thus a different car from the one sold here, but shows off PVNs for the very potent qualities of the time. When it was painted, he began to compete in several races, not least of all the decals and so on.
In 1968 he sells the car but in the 90s he buys it back and continues to race in it.
The man will eventually become one of Sweden's big Volvo PV names with a position on the PV club's board of directors.
There is a very detailed log book for the last 20 years the car was driven.
⚠️ In order to drive the car in the Rally Regularity class in such as the Midnight Sun Rally or other rally, the buyer must check what might be required in accordance with the regulations to carry out. This must be done before bidding.
