Description
1786 Pattern Officers Sword, straight diamond section double edged blade etched to both sides with pre 1801 Royal Coat of Arms above a scroll with the motto 'Dieu et Mon Droit' and a cartouche bearing the legend ' FOR MY COUNTRY & KING', Stirrup hilt in gilt/brass, wire bound ebonised grip, scabbard absent, blade length 82.5 cm.
Condition
Blade with some pitting and nicks to the edges, hilt in good condition with much gilt remaining, wire binding intact, some chips out of wooden handle, overall length 96 cm.
