Description

Rare copper engravings over Amsterdam depicting houses, churches, and cityscapes. Probably a product of
Pieter Schenk I (1661-1711), copper engraver and bookseller and later an important cartographer. Schenk gained employment under Gerard Valk, and married Valk's sister Agatha in 1687. From about 1680, the two men specialised in portraiture and topography.
8:0 (oblong, 19.3x30.5 cm). Engraved dedication to C. de Jonge van Ellemeet, list of illustrations, as well as 85 numbered pictures (out of 100) (untitled). Hfrbd, 19th century.
