HISTORY: Bild-Lilli was originally a cartoon character, by Reinhardt Boythien for the newspaper Bild-Zeitung,
Production of the doll was started by Hausser Elastolin in Germany in 1955, and is the model for Barbie. Ruth Handler, Barbie's founder bought up the rights for Bild-Lilli in 1964.
