Description
Two model ships, one of the sailing ship 'Pamir', the other of the sailing ship ' Thermopylae', built in Germany 1905 the by Blohm & Voss, Hamburg, 'Pamir' was a four masted barque, she was seized as a prize of war in 1941 while in New Zealand and returned to the Erickson Line in 1948, she was the last commercial sailing vessel to round Cape Horn, in 1957 she was caught in a hurricane and sank off the Azores, 'Thermopylae' was a composite clipper built in 1868 by Walter Hood & Co, Aberdeen, she famously won a race with the 'Cutty Sark' from Shanghai to London in 1869, sold to the Portuguese Navy in 1895, in 1907 she was used as target practice and sunk by Whitehead torpedoes, 'Pamir length 76 cm, heightb 40 cm, 'Thermopylae length 62 cm, height 34 cm.
Condition
Good overall condition but both models coated with dust.
