Copy of Die Nürnberger Eiserne Jungfrau/The Nuremberg Iron Maiden, which was likely manufactured in the early 19th century and destroyed during bombing in 1945.
Although it cannot be assumed that this type of device was used in the Middle Ages, the type is an expression of 19th century Gothic horror, and appears in Bram Stoker's “The Squaw” from 1893.
This iron maiden marked Eiserne Jungfrau in the estate is openable with thirteen prongs internally. Attached to wooden base plate with handwritten text in pencil “Nürnberg 19/4 1926".
