Description

Of archaic Shang-style Gu shape. Height 35 centimeters.

Provenance: The Thulin family in Stockholm and later Gothenburg. Some objects were in the home in Stockholm already in the 19th century when the current owners' great-grandfather, Carl Gustaf Thulin (1845-1918) collected Asian antiques. He was a co-owner of the shipping company Nordström & Thulin. Grandfather's name was John Daniel Thulin and he was married to Elsa (née Sachs). It is Elsa we see in the pictures in the photo album. The pictures show the home on Bellmansgatan in Stockholm during the 1940s. Most items are gifts or purchased during travels in Asia during the late 1800s and into the 1900s, mainly in China.
