Paper with deep stamp: “Otto Sager Berlin”
Frame dimensions approx. 27 x 24 cm, picture dimensions approx. 14 x 10 cm.

During World War I in 1916, he was stationed in Ukraine in
Feldflieger-Abteilung 45. During this time he created a number of etchings, for which he received “imperial recognition for etchings from the field”. “The Emperor has now rewarded the etcher Otto Sager of Berlin — his picture with his signature — with a great thanks for the beautiful etchings that Sager, currently a petty officer in the East, has created there.”.
Otto Sager's work is represented in the collections of the Kupferstichkabinett in the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin, Hamburger Kunsthalle and Museum Folkwang.

Condition

Normal wear and tear, slightly yellowed. Not examined out of frame.
