Description

Decor in undertrap technology made of silver foil and millefiore, among others.
Height approx. 7 cm. Diameter approx. 6 cm.

Dino Martens (1894—1970) was an Italian painter and designer who was particularly known for his glasswork trained at the Accademia di Belle Arti. He had his paintings exhibited at the Venice Biennale (1924—1930) and after his return from Italy's African War he became the artistic director of Aureliano Toso (the famous Venetian glasswork). He remained there for many years, producing many high-profile works using traditional Venetian techniques but producing some original effects, “bold” asymmetrical forms - the designs were often characterised by their apparent difficulty in execution.
