Description

An Interesting set of French illuminated pages, 19th century, some inscribed "Bibliotheque Royale de Paris" and "Bibliotheque de la Manastere de la Cava" believed to be taken from manuscripts from these respective Library's and others , one example after the Sacramentary of Gellone and depicting a Saxon Capital, another taken from Volume Five of the Chronicles of Froissart, an example after a 14th century Italian book of prayers, a page after the 9th century French book of prayer of Charles the Bald, after a page from the 15th century Italian Dante's Paradise done by Jules Clovio. approximately 40 pages

Note - Charles the Bald was king of West Francia, king of Italy and emperor of the Holy Roman Empire.

Note - Giorgio Giulio Clovio or Juraj Julije Klović (1498-1578) was an illuminator, miniaturist, and painter born in the Kingdom of Croatia, who was mostly active in Renaissance Italy.

Condition

general marks and wear, some minor losses to corners, all the pages collated within a modern binder.
