Description

The pioneering and influential Derrière le Miroir was founded in 1946 by Aimé Maeght, who had opened his art gallery the year before. 253 issues (many double) were published -the last one in 1982- and the mix of poetry and texts on art by Apollinaire, Breton, Jouhandeau, Ponge an others, and original lithographic illustrations by the Maeght gallery's artists (Alechinsky, Bacon, Bazaine , Braque, Calder, Chagall, Giacometti, Kandinsky, Matisse, Miró, Tapies, to name but a few) made it collectible almost from the beginning.
