Capture and shape with color. Sights that meet people's eyes daily on walks in reality. Visions that themselves speak so strongly that they themselves carry the art of conveying.
Shadows in the twilight suddenly come to life. Tunnels of darkness emanating from the silent gap. A tarpaulin that hides something unknown closes its secret tightly. Guarding walls behind which unsuspected events unfold.
A lingering car on a street, stopped, staring hollow-eyed. At the gasworks, explosions of light enveloped in silent darkness. A car graveyard where a note of annihilation beats out of the torn doors of the metal skeletons. A person with cell fear seen inside a closed room. To see in the dark.
A house wall whose color glows faintly because it was hit by a distant light, or a staircase without electricity, where you sense someone invisible in the dark.
That which, in a state of extinction, for a moment approaches eternity, has in its unconscious beauty a visionary power" Jan Liljeqvist, born in 1932 in Stockholm, died in 2003 in Ås, Jämtland, was a Swedish artist. He was known for his unique artistry, inspired by light and shadow, nature in northern Sweden and urban night walks. The paintings have been exhibited at the Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm, the Color Factory in Stockholm and Jämtland's Museum. He studied at San Fernando in Madrid, Spain, and later at the Academy of Florence, Italy. He also appeared in Paris during the 1960s.
