HISTORIAN:
The 1941 Nordic World Ski Championships took place in Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy between 1 and 10 February 1941. The World Championships had been postponed to Norway in 1940, but were cancelled due to World War II. At a meeting in Pau, France in 1946, the FIS decided to void the event's 1941 World Cup status. Medals were awarded, but they are not usually counted in official statistics for the Nordic World Ski Championships.
After WWII the International Ski Federation (FIS) declared this World Cup null and void in 1946 because due to political reasons many nations could not participate in it. Thus, none of the medals counted. Apart from Germany and Italy only Bulgaria, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Yugoslavia, Romania, Hungary and Switzerland had participated.
