
Bronze, dark brown patina. Based on an original by Agasias from Ephesos from the 3rd Jh. B.C. The statue was erected during excavations commissioned by Cardinal Scipione Borghese near Porto Dánzio at the beginning of the 17th century. discovered and exhibited at Villa Borghese in Rome after its restoration by sculptor and painter Nicolas Cordier in 1613. Napoleon purchased them from Camillo Borghese and finally brought to the Louvre and exhibited. H. with base: 23.5 cm.
