PROVENANCE:
Bror Hellström, (1914-1992), was a Swedish track and field athlete (long-distance running). Domestically, he competed for IFK Österåker, SoIK Hellas and Brandkårens IK Stockholm.
Bror Hellström was named Stor Grabb number 96 in athletics.In 1936, Hellström participated at the Olympic Games in Berlin where he came in fourteenth place in the 5,000 metres.
Hellström held the Swedish record in the 5,000 metres from 1941 to 1942. In 1941 he improved Henry Kälarne's Swedish record in the 5,000 metres from 1939 (14.18.8) to 14.15.8. He kept the record until Gunder Häggran under 14 minutes the following year.
