Good overall condition with some minor surface rust particularly to hammer.
19th century percussion rifle lock plate, marked with a crown over 'VR', makers details 'Mass. Arms Co., Chicopee Falls, U.S.A. 1856' and 'Maynards Patent, Sep. 28 1845, the lock plate is for a British contract .577 Greenes Patent Breech Loading Percussion Service Carbine.
