Adlerfeld, Gustaf von, Swedish draftsman, (1671-1709). Leben Carls den Zwölften (I-III)., Königs von Schweden. Auf desselben Befewhl beschrieben von hrn. Gustaf von Adlerfeld, the Royal Chamberlain. Mit Anmerkungen bereicht und fortgesetzt, wie auch nöthigen Abrissen verzehen. 3 volumes Frankfurt & Leipzig, 1740-1742. Three 8vo volumes in contemporary half-French bindings with gilt spine text and marbled covers. Illustrated with engraved vignettes (one with later colouring), and folding engraved battle plans and maps. (XXXII), 472 p. + 7 (of 8) folding engraved plates + (XVI), 542 p. + 3 folding engraved plates + (XVI), 526 p., (XLVI) index.
Gustaf von Adlerfeld died at the Battle of Poltava in 1709.
Condition
Straps rubbed, worn and stained. But well put together. An engraved plate loosely attached in the first part. The inlays are partially layer stained and with so-called offsetting, i.e. impressions from opposite sides. Some splashes brown toned and with tears. NOTE: The portrait of Carl XII in the first part is missing.
