The Bluenose was a Canadian sailing vessel known as a legendary fishing and racing schooner. Built in 1921 in Nova Scotia, Canada, the vessel was primarily intended for the lucrative fishing industry in the area.
The Bluenose was a two-masted schooner, meaning it had two masts (larger masts) and used a combination of square and triangular sails. The vessel primarily specialized in fishing for bluefin tuna and bank lobster, and was known for its speed and ability to sail in various weather conditions.
The ship also became a national symbol, appearing on the Canadian ten-dollar bill from 1937 to 2011. Despite its successful history, the ship met a tragic fate. In 1946, the ship ran aground and sank off the coast of Haiti.
