
ca 29x19 cm MAJA SETTERBERG After initial studies at the Technical School in Stockholm 1895-1897, Maja Setterberg studied at the Art Academy 1897-1904, where she also took part in Axel Tallberg's teaching in the etching school. In 1903 she went on a study trip to Paris and Italy.
Maja Setterberg is primarily known for genre motifs with children, such as the auction painting "Little girl by tree". Together with Adèle Söderberg, she exhibited at Hultberg's art store around 1909 and then she exhibited separately on several occasions in Stockholm. In addition to genre motifs, she painted a lot of portraits and at Drottningholm's Theater Museum there is her portrait of Gösta Ekman from 1917. Maja Setterberg got involved in the artists' conditions and she was one of the initiators of the "Konstnärsringen" in 1909. Within this association, she came to have a prominent role for several decades.
