Description
Manuscript. Ekbom, Torsten, Swedish writer & critic, (1938-2014). A 3.5 A 4-page typewritten manuscript in which Torsten Ekbom reviews Peter Kropotkin's "Memoirs of an Anarchist" and dwells specifically on life in the Peter Paul Fortress, the infamous prison in St. Petersburg, where Kropotkin himself was imprisoned for a couple of years before he was hospitalized for scurvy and managed the feat of escaping from the hospital. A few years later, he was sentenced by a French court to sit in Clairvaux prison due to an alleged association with the banned International. In the article, Ekbom also touches on the similarities between the Tsar's and Stalin's actions. The manuscript contains proof changes, stamps and graphic notations. It is signed in typescript but in the introduction it says: "Torsten Ekbom; Prison" the manuscript. The manuscript is postmarked February 5, 1974.
