Description
Sparrman, Anders, Swedish naturalist and disciple of Linné, (1748-1820). Voyage to Cape Goda Hopps, the South Pole Circle and around the globe, as well as to the Hottentot and Caffer countries, in the years 1772-76, by Anders Sparrman First Part (of 3). Found at Anders J. Nordström, Stockholm, 1783. 8vo in a contemporary brown half-French binding with gilt spine text and sprinkled covers. Illustrated with nine folding copperplates tied at the end. The engraved map is missing. XV, 766 p. + nine copper pins.
Condition
The band has been professionally refurbished and fitted with a new title label on the back. Edge wear and some stains but well put together. Cover pages stained and with small tears. Front cover page with older signature as well as the title page. The inlay a little layer-stained, but not hard. Last leaf with repairs in the margin. Lower part of plate number eight torn away. The boards are a little stained and slightly sun-stained.
