Erik Palmskiöld (1608-1686) became secretary of the national archives in 1651, i.e. director of the archive, and was the first to systematically arrange and register the holdings. The biography also contains a history of the National Archives and its archivists.

The band rubbed and with the spine gilt rubbed off. The first leaves with renovations and water stains in the upper margins. The last pages with staining in the outer margins at the top and a renovation in one margin.
