Description

Booklet dimensions 19x14 cm Hardcover book approx. 33x27 cm August Strindberg came from a musical home. The father Carl Oscar Strindberg played violin and piano and his interest was passed on to the children.
People often gathered around the piano on Sundays and played music together, which was common in bourgeois homes.

Carl Axel Strindberg (1845-1927), who was the oldest of the siblings, came to work as an insurance official at Nordstiernan. He was also a musician and composer under the pseudonym Cassius and conductor at Dramaten.

He composed music for several of his brother's works, for example Lycko-Per's journey, Gustav Adolf, Sömngångännätter and Crown Bride.

From 1899, when August organized music evenings, so-called Beethoven evenings, in his home, Axel played the piano.
