Concept art. Vilks, Lars, Swedish artist, (1946-2021). An extensive collection of documents about the most talked about Swedish work of art in modern times - Nimis in the sculpture park Ladonien at Kullabergs nature reserve in Skåne. Lars Vilks was both an artist and an art theorist where art and theory were intertwined. He regarded the lawsuits against Nimis as part of the artistic process. Nimis, which consists of driftwood and other pieces of wood, comprises five towers, of which the highest is eleven meters, just over 20 rooms and a stone wall. Nimis is 45 meters long and weighs just over 3 tons. Here are e.g. the tickets that Vilks used when he went to the trial against Nimis in Helsingborg 15 Dec 1983 - attach to a paper signed by Vilks. Everything became art! There are also a number of art theoretical dissertations by both Vilks himself and by others, photographs, brochures about Nimis, poster-like large posters signed by Lars Vilks, newspaper articles and original photographs.
In 1984, the German artist Joseph Beuys bought Nimis and when he died, the artwork was taken over by the installation artists Christo and Jeanne-Claude, whose estate now owns Nimis. Here is also Sydsvenska Dagbladet's leaflet on Thursday, May 3, 1984, which proclaims that "Professor bought Nimis". It was Joseph Beuys.
Provenance. From the archive of the concept artist Leif Eriksson (1939-2019).
Some traces of use here and there, but mostly in good condition.
