Sixteen (16) large 8vo volumes in red half morocco bindings with gilt spine text and gilt spine decoration in the form of the French lily and marbled covers and endpapers. Upper gold ratio. Makes up the so-called Imperial Edition de Luxe printed in 1000 copies of which this is no. 426. Each part with a colored etching as a front stove and with letter facsimiles in the introduction and with black and white illustrations in the text, often portraits of historical figures.
Collated complete!

Condition

The bands slightly stained with white streaks on some. Some rubbed corners and some upper capitals slightly corroded. The spines slightly darkened. Fresh submissions.
