
1931–1935 he studied at the Music Conservatory in Stockholm. Ehrling played trumpet with, among others, Håkan von Eichwald and Charles Redland in the 1920s and 1930s, and formed his own orchestra in 1938. Later it expanded into a big band, and became one of the leaders during the Swedish swing era. The band's signature tune Now we're going to dance started many radio broadcasts from e.g. Skansen 1940–1956. Thore Ehrling's orchestra disbanded in 1957. Among the singers who collaborated with the orchestra are Sonia Sjöbeck, Britt-Inger Dreilick, Alice Babs and later Nora Brockstedt. Thore Ehrling participated from 1932–1972 in more than 1,000 gramophone recordings. In addition to the signature melody, he wrote several melodies, the most famous of which are En månskenpromenad (1943), Regntunga skyar and Ole dole doff. In 1941, he founded the music publishing house Ehrling & Löfvenholm (from 1952 Thore Ehrling Musik AB), which today also includes Nils-Georgs music publishing house AB and Edition Sylvain AB. Thore Ehrling worked for a quarter of a century for Radiotjänst/Sveriges Radio, where, among other things, he led Radiotjänst's dance orchestra. In 1959 and 1960 he was the conductor of the Swedish Melodifestivalen on TV. Signed paper mounted with a photo with 15 signatures in acid-free material to a size of 30 x 40 cm.
