Tall 8vo in an older half-French binding with gilt spine text and sparse spine gilt and marbled covers and endpapers. Sometime in the 19th century According to a collation in pencil on the front page, plates 59, 63, 70,72 and 75 - 84 are missing among the reptiles. The atlas therefore contains 84 hand-colored engravings of reptiles and 24 hand-colored engravings of whales. The reptiles consist of turtles, lizards, snakes and frogs.
