1334028. LW ROTHOF'S WORK ON SOIL MARROW TO IMPROVE BARE SOILS 1773.

Description

Rothof, Lorenz Wolter, (1724-1787). Earth marrow, useful for the improvement of poor soil, was found in several places in Swerige and its nature and benefits were described. Stakbergska boktryckeriet, Gothenburg, 1773. Small 8vo in a contemporary half-French binding with gilt spine title and sprinkled covers (VIII), 263pp. , (I).
Lorens Wolter Rothof participated in Linné's excursions during the 1740s. In 1753, he received from Alströmer a lecturer's position at Höjentorp's shepherd school. Rothof was also active as a bookseller and manufacturer of gold brocade paper in Alingsås.
Marl soil or earth marrow is, as far as I understand, porcelain clay that makes poor soil more fertile.

Condition

Spine and covers slightly rubbed. Slight fold damage, but well held band. Stamp in the lower margin of the title page from Gothenburg's museum and that the book is sold as a duplicate. Fresh submission.
