Description

He was awarded but declined the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1964. Sartre is known as one of the founders of existentialism. The debut novel La Nausée (The Disgust) was published in 1938, and he then produced a variety of philosophical, fictional and political works until his death. After the Second World War, Sartre also began publishing a magazine, Les Temps Modernes, which he worked on together with his life partner, the philosopher and writer Simone de Beauvoir. Both Sartre and de Beauvoir were strongly politically engaged against the French and international bourgeoisie, and particularly against French colonial rule in French Algeria - measures 9cm x 5.5cm.
